The Expenditure (Social) Department is charged with the mandate of consolidating the draft submissions of all Federal MDAs in preparing the annual budget of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The departments are also expected to provide technical backstopping for Sector MDAs in updating and preparing the Medium Term Sector Strategy (MTSS). In ensuring predictable and accountable implementation of the budget the departments are also responsible for releases of monthly and quarterly warrants and Authority to Incure Expenditure (AIE).
